While I don’t mean to bolster the competition, there seems to be a similarly Greenwich Village-themed project afoot called NYC Atelier:
The site is centered on a map and provides themed pages locating sites of interest in the Village. Themes include:
Architecture, Architects, Artists, Writers, Public Art, History, Paintings, Old Photos, Street Extensions, HABS Buildings, Public Parks, Coffee, Restaurants, Cafes, Specialty Foods, Pubs, Live Music, Comedy &, Theater, Galleries` and more.
The site provides this information regarding the maps: “The NYCAtelier Greenwich Village and SoHo map project strives to provide the most comprehensive printable maps and guides to Greenwich Village and Soho. The maps are tailored to a variety of interest areas including art, architecture, and literary works, and can serve as the basis for several self guided tours. The maps and guides are designed to be printed or can be viewed on portable devices such as the iphone.”
There is an accompanying blog as well: http://nycatelier.blogspot.com/
Remarkably despite all this info there is very little mentioned beyond the following regarding the creators of this project: “NYC atelier is a workshop established to note the characteristics of the metropolis, especially with regard to culture, design, and the arts.”
